It’s that time of year again for Basketball season to gear up. We have 5 home games on the schedule and are looking for volunteers to sell food and Spirit Wear items during the games.

As we enter a season of giving and gratitude, we polled our teachers and found out what they need (and like) most. From a pool of 50 teaching staff at our Oakhurst STEAM Academy, these were their top five most needed supplies for the classroom.

1. Dry Erase Markers (1 in every 5 teachers need these!)
2. Sharpened pencils
3. Tissues
4. Disinfectant spray/wipes
5. Books

As we near the end of the first quarter, we reflect on how hard our teachers work and how much they do for the success of our scholars. If you find yourself feeling compelled to thank them–verbal thanks go a long way!–here are some tangible ways to show your gratitude.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped us clean up the picnic table area where the walking-scholars meet their parents at the end of every school day. We made a big impact post hurricane Florence. You rock!

Our Oakhurst STEAM PTA Fall Festival date has been moved due to delays from Hurricane Michael. So please re-mark your calendars for our new date, Friday, October 26th. Festivities will still be from 6-8PM and entrance is FREE!

• Tickets for games will be: $3.00 for 1 bag of tickets and $5.00 for 2 bags
• Food vendors will be on site (food truck, cotton candy, and popcorn)

There are still a variety of volunteer opportunities with a range of time commitment and/or resources. If you’re willing to help, we have a task for you. Please email oakhurststeampta@gmail.com to volunteer.
